Description

ResLab

ResLab Silicone Cushion — Compatible with AirFit™ F40

📦 What's Included

  • 1 × ResLab Silicone Replacement Cushion (in the size you select)

The mask frame, headgear and elbow assembly are not included — your existing F40 parts are reused.

Restore Your Seal Without Replacing the Whole Mask

ResLab silicone replacement cushion, compatible with the ResMed AirFit F40 full face mask

A ResLab silicone replacement cushion designed for compatibility with the ResMed AirFit™ F40 full face CPAP mask. Replacing the cushion on schedule restores the seal, brings back comfort and keeps your therapy effective — at a fraction of the cost of a whole new mask.

The cushion is the only part of your mask that touches your face all night, and it's the part that wears out first. Soft silicone gradually stretches and softens with nightly use, facial oils and washing, and once it loses its shape the seal starts to break down — air escaping past your cheeks, water running into your eyes, a mask you keep tightening, or leak figures creeping up on your machine.

Made from soft, flexible silicone with no rigid components, this cushion adapts to your facial contours to reduce pressure points while holding a stable seal as you move. It removes and refits in seconds with no tools, and comes in three sizes so you can match your existing fit.

Fits AirFit F40 Medical-Grade Silicone S / M / L No Magnets in Cushion Latex Free Fully Washable Not AirMini Compatible
Note: This is a ResLab replacement cushion, not manufactured by or affiliated with ResMed, designed for compatibility with the ResMed AirFit™ F40 full face mask. The mask frame, headgear and elbow assembly are sold separately.

Magnets: this cushion contains no magnets — but the AirFit F40 headgear uses magnetic clips, so the assembled mask is not magnet-free. If you have an implanted medical device, read the safety notice below before use.
Restores the Seal, Not the Cost
A worn cushion is the usual cause of a leaking F40 — not a failing mask. Replacing the cushion restores performance for a fraction of a whole new mask system.
No Rigid Components
Seamless soft silicone throughout, so it flexes with your face instead of pressing into it — fewer pressure points and fewer red marks in the morning.
Stable Through Movement
The adaptive seal keeps contact as you change position, which is where most side and front sleepers lose their seal.
Swaps in Seconds
Pulls off and clicks back on with no tools and no clips, so daily cleaning and routine replacement take moments.

📏 Choosing the Right Size

All sizes fit the same F40 frame, so changing size later means a new cushion, never a new mask.

Small Medium Large
  • Replacing a worn cushion? Order the size printed on the one you're taking off
  • If your current cushion says "Small Wide", note that Wide refers to width, not length — it is not the same as Small. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm the right fit [CONFIRM]
  • If you sit between two sizes, the smaller cushion usually seals better — one that's too large needs over-tightening to hold
  • Measure with a relaxed jaw and a neutral expression, not a clenched one
  • New to the F40 and unsure? Message us with your current mask details before ordering

Compatibility

  • ResMed AirFit™ F40 Full Face Mask — replaces the F40's AdaptiSeal™ cushion
  • Your existing F40 frame, headgear and elbow assembly
  • ResMed AirFit™ F20 / AirTouch™ F20 — different platform, different cushion
  • ResMed AirFit™ F30 / F30i — different platform
  • ResMed AirFit™ N20 / N30i / P30i / P10 (nasal and pillow masks)
  • ResMed AirMini travel device — the F40 is not an AirMini-compatible mask
  • Philips, BMC, Fisher & Paykel and other non-ResMed mask systems

Cushions are not interchangeable between ResMed mask families — each is moulded to a specific frame. Check the model printed on your frame before ordering, and if you're unsure, ask us first.

💡 Fitting Tip — Reset Your Tension

A fresh cushion seals with far less tension than the worn one you're taking off, so your current strap settings will be too tight. Over-tightening a new cushion is the fastest way to wear it out early.

  • Loosen the headgear straps fully before the first night on a new cushion
  • Put the mask on lying down, in your usual sleeping position, with the machine running
  • Tighten in small, even steps until the leak stops — then stop, even if it still feels loose
  • Keep both sides even; an uneven pull tilts the frame and opens a leak at the opposite corner
  • Seat the cushion fully into the frame until it sits flush, with no lifted edges
  • If a leak persists with a new cushion, check the frame for hairline cracks and the headgear for stretch — a worn frame makes a new cushion leak

🔧 Complete the Setup

The cushion is the fastest-wearing part, but it isn't the only one with a schedule.

  • F40 Headgear — elastic stretches gradually; replace around every 6 months. Stretched headgear is often mistaken for a worn cushion
  • F40 Frames — replace every 6–12 months, or sooner if cracked
  • CPAP Mask Wipes — a nightly wipe lifts facial oils, which are the main cause of early cushion failure
  • CPAP Tubing — replace every 3 months
  • See all replacement cushions — including multipacks if you'd rather not reorder every few months

🧼 Cleaning Instructions

Regular cleaning extends the life of the cushion and helps maintain hygiene for safe, effective therapy.

  • Remove the cushion from the mask frame before cleaning.
  • Wash daily in warm water with a mild, non-abrasive, unscented soap.
  • Rub the sealing membrane gently between your fingers to lift facial oils, which are what make silicone go slack.
  • Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue, which irritates skin and shortens the cushion's life.
  • Air dry away from direct sunlight; UV degrades silicone and hardens the sealing edge.
  • Do not use alcohol-based cleaners, bleach, dishwashers or abrasive cloths, as these damage the silicone.
  • Wash your face before bed and skip night-time moisturiser — facial oils are the main cause of early cushion failure.
  • Replace the cushion every 1–3 months, or sooner if it appears worn, discoloured, stiff or begins to leak.

Why Choose This Cushion?

This ResLab cushion restores the performance of your AirFit F40 without the cost of a full mask replacement. Its soft silicone construction conforms to your facial contours for a secure seal all night, and the cushion itself contains no magnetic components. Quick to replace and available in three sizes, it's the practical choice for keeping your therapy effective night after night — and because the frame and headgear stay as they are, your fit doesn't need relearning.

  • Air is escaping past your cheeks or blowing into your eyes
  • You're tightening the headgear more than you used to, just to hold a seal
  • The sealing edge feels slack, sticky, stiff or has gone cloudy
  • Your machine's leak figures have crept up over recent weeks
  • You're waking with red marks or sore spots that weren't there before
  • Your cushion is past the 1–3 month mark and due on schedule
  • The rest of the mask is in good order and only the cushion needs renewing

⚠ Important Safety Notice

This is a ResLab replacement cushion and is not manufactured by or affiliated with ResMed. It is a component of a medical device used for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea under the direction of a qualified healthcare professional, and is designed for compatibility with the ResMed AirFit™ F40 full face mask. The mask frame, headgear and elbow assembly are not included and are sold separately.

Magnets and implanted medical devices. This cushion contains no magnets. However, the AirFit F40 headgear uses magnetic clips, so the assembled mask is not magnet-free. Magnets can interfere with implanted devices and metallic implants. Consult your doctor and your device manufacturer before using a mask with magnetic clips if you or anyone sharing your bed has:

  • A pacemaker, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) or other active implant
  • A neurostimulator or CSF shunt with an adjustable (programmable) valve
  • Haemostatic clips, embolic coils or aneurysm clips
  • Metallic splinters in or near the eye
  • A cochlear implant, insulin pump or magnetic metallic implant
  • Any metallic device or implant in the head or torso

If any of these apply, speak to your clinician about ResMed's non-magnetic headgear options before use, and keep magnetic components at least 150 mm from any implanted device. ResMed publishes a magnet addendum and a crosswalk guide covering which masks use magnets — ask us and we'll point you to them.

Confirm the cushion matches your exact mask model and size before use — an incorrect fit reduces seal quality and therapy effectiveness. Inspect the cushion regularly for cracking, stiffening or discolouration and replace it if the seal is compromised. Never block or modify the mask vent, which is how exhaled air leaves the mask; a blocked vent allows carbon dioxide to build up inside the mask. Cushions are single-user items and should not be shared between users.

Please refer to the official AirFit F40 user guide for complete information on contraindications, warnings, precautions and instructions for use, and consult your healthcare provider to determine whether this device is appropriate for the treatment of your obstructive sleep apnoea. If you notice persistent leaks, discomfort, skin irritation or any change in mask performance after fitting, discontinue use and consult your CPAP provider or healthcare professional.
