Headgear is the quiet cause of most "my mask suddenly started leaking" problems. The straps hold their tension for months and then slowly give, and because it happens gradually you compensate by tightening — which is why stretched straps usually show up as red marks and sore spots before you notice the leak. If a new cushion hasn't fixed your fit, the headgear is almost always the part that has gone.
Made from soft, breathable fabric, it offers lasting comfort for nightly use without excessive pressure on the face or head. Hook-and-loop (Velcro) straps let you dial the fit in precisely, while the included magnetic clips make attaching and removing the mask quick and effortless — without undoing the settings you've already got right.

This headgear is supplied in Standard, which is the size most F20 masks ship with. A smaller "For Her" cut exists for narrower head shapes.

New headgear holds far more tension than the stretched set you're taking off, so your old settings will be much too tight. Start from scratch.
If the straps have gone, the rest of the mask is the same age. These are the other three parts of an F20, each on its own schedule.
Fabric headgear lasts longest with gentle hand washing. Heat and machine agitation are what destroy the elastic.
Stretched or worn headgear is one of the most common causes of mask leaks, since it's the straps that hold your frame and cushion firmly in place all night. As a genuine ResMed component built for the AirFit F20, this replacement restores the even, adjustable fit the mask was designed around, along with the quick on-and-off convenience of the magnetic clips. Since your existing frame, cushion and elbow all connect to it as normal, it's a simple, targeted fix rather than a full mask replacement.
This headgear contains magnets. Keep the magnetic clips at least 6 inches (150 mm) away from implanted medical devices and metallic implants that may be affected by magnetic fields — at all times, including when handling, storing or drying the headgear.

Before use, confirm the headgear is compatible with your existing frame and cushion, and inspect it regularly for stretched fabric, frayed edges, or clips that no longer hold securely. Do not over-tighten the straps to stop a leak; a leak that only tightening can fix usually means a worn cushion or the wrong size. Replace the headgear when it becomes stretched or worn, to maintain a secure fit and effective therapy. If you notice persistent leaks, discomfort or any change in mask performance after fitting, discontinue use and consult your CPAP provider or healthcare professional.
